Responsabilities
Under the supervision of the superintendent or site foreman, the health and safety coordinator on construction sites must ensure that all necessary measures are in place to protect workers and maintain a safe working environment :
- Carry out daily site inspections to ensure everyone’s health and safety.
- Apply and enforce site-specific safety instructions and measures.
- Ensure compliance with the hygiene measures set out in the Safety Code.
- Intervene in dangerous situations and order work to be stopped if necessary.
- Investigate any serious accidents or incidents and produce the required reports.
- Issue notices of non-compliance, follow up on them, and require the necessary corrections.
- Lead site committee safety meetings.
- Follow up on permits, certifications, and reports related to safety (working at heights, equipment, accident log, etc.)
- Advise site managers on best practices in safety.
- Collaborate with training and prevention organizations;
- Maintain relationships with external safety partners to apply best practices on the site.
- Conduct periodic inspections and ensure that corrective measures are implemented.
- Inform the superintendent or foreman of any situation that could affect safety or the progress of the project.
Required profile
- Have a certificate or attestation recognized by the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST).
- Have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position.
- Be available to work in the Laval area.
- Knowledge of OHS laws and regulations in force in Quebec.
- Share the company’s values: integrity, rigor, and respect.
- Certificate of completion of the health and safety course for construction sites (ASP construction).
